Cormatex is a textile machinery manufacturer located in Prato (Italy), producing machineries for Woollen Spinning and Nonwoven. It is a family-run business, established in 1938, nowadays managed by the third generation of the company. Over the past twenty years, the primary emphasis of research and development endeavours has been directed towards creating groundbreaking technologies aimed at recycling waste. This endeavour yielded two pioneering Airlay machines capable of converting a variety of waste materials and vegetable fibre or vegetable by-products—both fibrous and non-fibrous—into nonwoven products suitable for diverse applications. The extreme flexibility in terms of input material (no limitation on the minimum fibre length, the option of adding any kind of dry powder or spray any kind of liquid to the fibre blend) allows unique opportunities for post-industrial and post-consumer waste recycling/upcycling and for processing any kind of vegetable fibre. Thanks to the R&D activities on the pilot line installed in Cormatex premises and the several lines installed worldwide, Cormatex serves as a technology provider engaged in several recycling projects worldwide involving countless innovative applications and new materials.
